Our 棒球 and 垒球 programs have waited for so long to have official homes. 现在他们做到了.
In a place they know well – Jim Barnett Park!
Through a landmark agreement with the City of Winchester, Shenandoah is renovating four 字段 in the park, including the two 字段 that have served as the longtime home of Hornets’ 棒球 and 垒球.
MAKE EVERY FACET OF THESE DIAMONDS PERFECT
We’re excited to say that Hornet 棒球 has a permanent home at
Bridgeforth Field, and Hornet 垒球 will call Rotary Field home. With your gift you’ll fund:
- New synthetic turf on both 字段 featuring Shenandoah Athletic logos
- NCAA regulation dugouts, fencing and dimensions, which would allow Shenandoah to host NCAA Regional Playoffs
- Renovated bullpens on both 字段 that will provide expanded viewing areas for spectators
- New netting, improving safety
At Bodie Grim and Henkel-Harris 字段, you’ll support significant
improvements such as renovated traditional playing surfaces, new
fencing, expanded dugouts, new press boxes, new scoreboards and
bullpens, and additional bleachers. The 字段 are also ADA accessible.
社会福利
This renovated complex is one for the entire Winchester-Frederick
县社区.
Handley High School, The Winchester Royals of the Valley League and
youth players will grow as athletes as they play on these improved
字段. And, Shenandoah is also developing programs that will make
playing ball possible for kids whose families might not otherwise be
able to afford for them to participate.
This facility will be a “win-win” for the Winchester/Frederick 县社区 and Shenandoah University. It will greatly assist our student-athletes by allowing them to practice and compete around their class schedules. 最后, this facility will help us in attracting the best 棒球 players/students to allow us to compete at the regional and national level.”
— Kevin Anderson, Head 棒球 Coach
The opportunity to renovate and improve our facility is the next step in elevating our program in the ODAC. We will have a facility suited for a high-caliber competitive 垒球 program, and will also allow growth for the sport in the Winchester community. This project will help to advance Shenandoah 垒球 into a new era.”
— Courtney Moyer, Head 垒球 Coach
I think this a great opportunity to be able to host ODAC and regional tournaments. I believe this new facility will bring larger crowds and more school spirit to the games! I can’t wait to see it.”
— Megan Scalley, RHP ’22
Growing up playing 棒球 in Winchester and now playing for the Hornets, I am beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to play in a state-of-the-art facility. Having this new complex will bring more attention to Shenandoah’s 棒球 program and the 棒球 community of Winchester. It will be something special.”
